KenKen Maths Challenge Results Well done to the 6 students in the Primary school and 8 Secondary school students who have successfully qualified for the National Finals of the Ken Ken World Championship, to be held in Cairo in October. We wish all the students the best of luck in the next round of the competition in their attempt to reach the Grand Final in New York City.
Primary Assembly A great assembly from Year 3 to round-up their topic studying the ‘Romans’. They demonstrated different battle formations with the shields they had created and even treated us to a musical rendition of ‘Hey Romans!’. Lots of fun for all involved.
Ramadan Boxes We would like to thank everyone who has contributed towards our collections for the Ramadan boxes. They will be distributed to worthy causes very soon. Today some of our Year 6 pupils were involved in the packaging of the donations received for our Ramadan boxes.
Swimming Competition Saturday 12th May saw the MCE Lions swim team compete in a swimming competition which was held at the Cairo American College (CAC). The MCE Lions fought very hard throughout the event with a number of MCE students achieving first, second and third places to round off a fantastic year of swimming. Congratulations to the entire swim team.
Dorothy’s Journey to Oz Dorothy’s Journey to Oz has been a great success. We hope everyone enjoyed this year’s school production. A big well done to all performers, crew and teachers for your incredible hard work. It has all paid off! Don’t worry if you were unable to attend, a DVD of the show will be available soon!
MCUK Visit We were thrilled to welcome our visitors, Mr. Allan Walker, Director of International Schools, and Ms. Nicola Dudley, Director of Education from Malvern College UK on Wednesday and Thursday, as part of our annual quality assurance process and termly board of management meeting. We hope that they had a wonderful stay with us here in Cairo and we look forward to sharing their feedback with our community soon.
Art Exhibition 2017/18 We have seen a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication from our students this year and this is evident in the many diverse and unique pieces of artwork on display in the Art Exhibition this year. Fagnoon Trip 2017/18 Year 1 and 2 had an amazing experience visiting Fagnoon Farm. Year 1 took part in a farming and pottery activity. Year 2 did woodwork and weaving. All children had the opportunity to learn how to make Baladi bread, to feed goats and to ride on a camel, horse or donkey. A great time was had by all and we returned to school with some very tired students.
Year 6 Leavers’ Party After their great ‘leavers’ assembly’ the Year Six children stayed in the College to celebrate the end of their MCE Primary School years. The children changed into their mufti attire and played in several class competition games. 6M were the eventual winners. The parents had generously provided plenty of food and all thoroughly enjoyed the party. It was a superb way to end the year.
End of School The end of year is shortly approaching. It has been a great year at MCE and we hope each and every one of our pupils has enjoyed it. The last day of school will finish at 12 pm on the 28th June. Have a great summer break!
Pre-Nursery and Nursery Celebration Assembly The Pre-Nursery and Nursery children gathered in our Early Years Shared Area yesterday morning to celebrate their successes throughout this year. Each children has a set of wonderful attributes which we want to celebrate. The children sang sweetly with Miss Leen leading them on the piano and each child came up to receive their own certificate. Mrs Dibb-Holland awarded the certificates on behalf of all the teachers, shaking the children’s hands and offering them individual congratulations.

ESMA Animal Shelter On Thursday 21st June, we took a small group of students from Foster House to our house charity ESMA – The Egyptian Society for Mercy to Animals. During this trip we had an opportunity to see the amazing work the charity is doing as well as hand over 33,000 EGP that has been raised this year through International Day and other school events (such as the Primary spelling competition and the House dress-up day, plus the kind donation of Mrs Romani’s Spanish CCA fees). Primary House Handwriting Competition In Primary we have asked students to choose and copy out their favourite Malvern qualities in their best handwriting, and a handwriting champion has been chosen from each year group. It was a very difficult decision for Mr Kittermaster! Congratulations to Hania 1L, Lilia 2L, Jana 3M, Maya 4A, Sedra 5M and Husna 6A who were awarded the champion title for their year group! Overall, there were 3 champions from Foster, so they have won this House competition.
