Malvern College is a co-educational boarding and day school for pupils aged 13-18 in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1865, Malvern is set in a beautiful 250-acre campus, which offers first-class facilities to its pupils. Malvern College has a strong academic focus complemented by a very impressive co-curricular programme that fosters all-round individual development.

One of the UK’s leading independent schools, Malvern College offers GCSEs followed by a choice between the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme and A levels in Sixth Form. The academic rigour and pursuit of a holistic education are determining factors in producing excellent academic results as seen annually by students, where many are admitted to top universities around the world. The College’s IB graduates regularly average over 36 points. It is equally strong in its A-Level provision, where results are consistently ranked within the top 10% of equivalent UK independent schools. Malvern College has been a forerunner in education, being among the first UK schools to adopt the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme as well as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. Its strong educational heritage is underpinned by its pioneering introduction of innovative education practices such as the Nuffield approach to teaching Science.

Malvern College’s associated preparatory school, The Downs Malvern, is a day and boarding school for girls and boys from 3 – 13 years. It is set within its own impressive 55-acre campus on the western edge of the Malvern Hills. Pupils benefit from excellent teaching alongside superb extra-curricular, boarding and sports facilities. The Downs offers a continuous programme of education from Early Years through to Year 8, drawing on the Early Years Foundation Stage, National Curriculum for England and Wales and Common Entrance.

Between Malvern College and The Downs, we have produced four Nobel Prize Winners: Francis William Aston, Chemist; James Meade, Economist; Alan Hodgkin, neuroscientist; and Frederick Sanger, biochemist and a double Nobel Laureate. Other famous alumni (‘Old Malvernians’) include R. E. Foster, the only man to have captained England at both cricket and football; novelist C. S. Lewis, author of The Chronicles of Narnia; businessman Lord MacLaurin, a former Chairman of Tesco and Vodafone; Baron Weatherill, the former Speaker of the British House of Commons.
