Malvern College’s seventh international campus, Malvern College Switzerland, is due to open its doors to pupils in September 2021.
Based in Leysin in the Vaud Alpes, the campus is situated in a picturesque location at the east end of Lake Geneva. It boasts spectacular alpine views across the Rhône Valley towards the Dents du Midi, with year-round mountain sports and recreational facilities.
This will all be of great importance to the MCS pupils, who will receive a bespoke international education based on the British Curriculum. With a current maximum capacity of 150, MCS will allow entry into Year 10 or Year 12, with additional options for students looking for a pre-IGCSE course in Year 9 or a pre-A level course in Year 11.
Subjects offered at the school include Art, Computing, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Economics, English, French, Geography, German, History, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Physics, Psychology and Spanish.
The MCS campus is ideally situated for winter and summer sports enthusiasts, with mountain lifts a 3 minute drive or 10 minutes walk away. Winter sports available regionally include over 100km of pistes for ski and snowboard enthusiasts – with the largest snow tubing park in Europe and Youth Winter Olympic Freestyle Park 2020. There is also hiking, rock climbing, cycling, sailing, paddle boarding and scuba diving throughout the year.
Wider facilities that pupils may take advantage of include: The World Cycling Centre with pump tracks, indoor tracks and an international training centre; and regular fitness facilities from squash courts and climbing walls to an Olympic sized swimming pool.
Dr Tim Jefferis is the Founding Headmaster who has a wealth of experience from his time employed at a number of other international schools, including Harrow International School Bangkok, and Uppingham and Oswestry Schools in the UK. He is looking forward to implementing the Malvern values-based education, in collaboration with Feydey International and the wider Malvern College team.
