Book Week took place across the Primary School between Sunday 24th March and Thursday 28th March. During this time, we celebrated books and reading with a range of fun activities. We were lucky enough to be visited by a UK author, Alan Durant, who has published over 100 books and all pupils in years 2 – 6 enjoyed an assembly with him in which they got to listen to some of his poetry and even join in with some themselves. Alan Durant also lead writing workshops for a selection of children in the Primary School along with signing books and discussing his writing with small groups. Other activities in school included a Book Swap in which many children were able to exchange an old book from home for a new one they had not yet read, Stop Everything and Read which had us all waiting in suspense each day for the bell to ring along the corridors so we could pick up our books, and a Book Character Dress Up Day to end the week. The week was a huge success and all pupils got fully involved, writing fantastic Book Reviews for our competition and immersing themselves in a good book at every opportunity.
