KEY STAGE 5
In their final two years of education at Malvern College Egypt pupils will have a range of options available to study pre-university courses. Pupils studying A levels will pursue an Academic Enrichment Programme enabling them to choose from a wide range of subjects in addition to their core AS and A2 subjects. The Enrichment Programme includes languages, Psychology (to AS) and the Extended Project Qualification as well as opportunities to take part in sporting, creative and service-based co-curricular activities.Malvern College Egypt is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. The IB Organisation (IBO) states
“Only schools authorized by the International Baccalaureate can offer any of its four academic programmes: The Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme or the IB Career-related Certificate (IBCC). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted. IB World Schools share a common philosophy—a commitment to improve the teaching and learning of a diverse and inclusive community of students by delivering challenging, high quality programmes of international education that share a powerful vision. The IB’s Mission Statement is:“The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.” https://www.ibo.org/about-the-ib/mission
As we endeavour to achieve authorisation, you can find more information from our IB Diploma Coordinator Nicola Maher at [email protected] or if you need further information about the IB and its programmes, visit www.ibo.org
Whichever educational course pupils choose to pursue, they will be given the opportunity to take on responsibility and leadership roles and to choose the areas of school life to which they feel most able to contribute and from which they will most benefit.Pupils will be carefully supported by subject teachers and, critically, their academic and pastoral tutor. Our pupils are able to choose their tutor from amongst the teaching staff early in the academic year, giving them an ideal opportunity to be tutored by a member of staff with whom they get on well and who will often specialise in an area that a pupil wishes to pursue after leaving Malvern College Egypt.
