Art Exhibition 2017/18 We have seen a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication from our students this year and this is evident in the many diverse and unique pieces of artwork on display in the Art Exhibition this year. The Art Department is flourishing, helped along by the efforts of our first Y10 GCSE Art Class who presented an exciting and inspirational range of final artworks at the exhibition. Well done to all of our students who have worked so hard and made such an effort to contribute to the Art Exhibition 2018, and take time to think about […]

Science Club 2017/18 In our Silly Science Club this term the students have had the opportunities to develop their investigative skills by making bouncy balls and slime, ramps for marbles, try making their own ice cream and lots more! In this session pictured the students are making a red cabbage indicator. By crushing the red cabbage and collecting the juice we can investigate what colour the juice will turn with acids, such as lemon juice, and bases, such as detergent. Francophone Week 2017/18 Bonjour! This week is officially ‘Francophonie Week’ and primary pupils have been learning about other French-speaking countries around the world. This is an opportunity to understand that French is an important language and that it can be a great asset later as it is spoken on all continents. All in all, it has been a positive week and pupils have been very interested in taking part in the different activities offered. It is promising for next year. Merci!

Book Week 2017/18 MCE has once again been an incredibly busy and vibrant place this week, with a wide range of activities in place over the course of Book Week. We have been incredibly fortunate to welcome both Cliff Mc Nish and Ann Bryant, two internationally renowned authors, to MCE for presentations and workshops for our students. As well as the author visits the students have been involved in games of giant scrabble (on a huge 7m by 7m board), DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) and much more to hopefully further their excitement for reading.
