This morning our families enjoyed a wonderful winter concert. All of the Early Years children from our youngest Pre-Nursery children through Nursery and Reception performed to the very best of their ability in the College theatre. The Pre-Nursery children, dressed as Christmas trees and Elves and sang three songs with enthusiasm and big smiles on their faces. We were delighted to have prospective families attend an open day at the College. Alongside taking a tour in our campus, the prospective families had the chance to ask the questions that they had in mind regarding our College.
On Monday 3rd December, we held a friendly competition between Foster and Lewis House, to see which House could raise the most money for their charity through selling home-baked items. The Bake Sale was very well supported, with lots of delicious treats on offer. The Pupil Leadership Teams in both Primary and Secondary took responsibility for selling the items and did a wonderful job. Thank you to all the parents, staff and pupils who supported this event.
Poetry Week came to a close last Thursday with a brilliant assembly in which one pupil from every class from Years 2-6 recited a poem. There were some fantastic poems and we were very impressed by the talents of all participants.
It was a pleasure to welcome guests from Malvern College UK and Malvern College International to MCE this week. Their visit forms part of our termly Board of Management meetings and allowed them to meet with a range of pupils and teachers to gain an insight into our progress as a growing College.
Nursery Teddy Bear Picnic 2018/19 After learning all about shapes and colours, the Nursery children took part in a teddy bear picnic on Thursday 15th November. The classrooms were filled with teddy bears the children had brought from home and everyone was given the opportunity to dress up in patterned pyjamas. The children, teachers, and teddy bears all sat down outside, compared different patterns, and shared a selection of treats.

Trophy Presentation 2018/19 In our Primary Assembly, the trophies for the Football Tournament and Swim Gala were officially presented to the winning House Captains. Miss Phillips, as Head of House for Foster, handed over the Swim Gala trophy. Mr. Stewart and Mr. Watt who share the Head of House role for Lewis, gave the Football Trophy to their Captains. Well done to Foster and Lewis, let’s all wish Elgar and Sanger the best of luck in our forthcoming House events.
Inter-house swimming competition 2018/19 Sunday 18th (Primary) and Monday 19th (Secondary) saw our annual Inter-House swimming galas, held here at Malvern College Egypt. All of the staff, pupils and parents were out to show their full support, cheering as loud as they could, contributing to a fantastic atmosphere. pupils had been working incredibly hard in the build up to this event, training for a number of weeks for their individual events. We were lucky enough to receive a visit from Santa Claus. The children were so excited and happy to see him. Some children had letters to give to him, other children gave him their Christmas lists as well. We sang him songs and recited poems. Santa gave all of the children within Early Years and year 1 a gift. We wish you all happy holidays!
On Monday, 17th December, Secondary students and Year 6 performed in a wonderful Winter concert to celebrate the end of term. To open the show our dynamic Year 6 choir sang three songs including their catchy ‘I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas’, and the Year 7&8 choir closed the show with an impressive Christmas jazz medley in 2-part harmony. Other highlights included our school band, an Elvis tribute, many expressive piano solos and a sneak preview of our forthcoming Secondary musical ‘Mary Poppins’, which will take place in our theatre in February. Congratulations to all students involved!
Today two MCE parents, Mrs Lamees Daya and Mrs Susana Romani visited the Sanger charity to deliver the money raised on the Sanger Charity Dress Up Day. The amount of 15,000 EGP will be used to develop the play areas for children who attend education classes there.
Pupils at MCE had the pleasure to meet the Minister of Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs Ambassador Nabila Makram at the “Egypt can” conference in Hurghada. Not only it has provided the pupils with experience, but also they had the opportunity to see 36 scientists and experts (including Dr. Farouk Elbazz) raising and discussing about topics ranging from technology and science to the development of students and their wellbeing.
We enjoyed lots of festive fun on Elgar Charity Dress-up Day! Students looked splendid with their Christmas or red clothes. In both Primary and Secondary they participated in fun activities during the break times. We also had a real treat with carol singers visiting classes and secondary students reading winter stories to some of the Early Years classes. The teachers were able to taste a delicious winter drink too! Thank you to everyone who supported this event. We will announce the amount raised as soon as we can!
